Setting Permissions

Reference this section for examples of common security settings.

Basic Edit Permissions

If you need to allow a role to edit existing content you only need to give permission to the role for the a widget.

  1. Find the page for which you want to give permissions in the Site Tree or by navigating to the page in ProfitSuite.

  2. Click the Edit tab.

  3. Click on the over the content to which you would like to grant permission.

  4. In the widget pop-up click on the Security tab.

  5. Check the green box next to the Role to which you would like to grant permissions.

  6. Click OK.

  7. The users assigned to the selected role(s) will now have permission to edit that piece of content.

Publishing Permissions

To allow a role to publish content you must give them permission to publish the page.

  1. Find the page for which you want to give permissions to through the Site Tree or by navigating to the page in ProfitSuite.

  2. Click the Security tab.

  3. Check the green box in the Publishing column corresponding to the Role name you would like to give permission. The second row (Sub Page Permissions) is for pages created under the current page and not required for existing pages.

  4. The users assigned to the role(s) you selected will now have permission to publish that page.
Permissions for Creating New Pages

Setting security for roles to create new pages is the most complicated aspect of security permissions. It also allows for the most flexibility. The instructions below refer to the most common situations. These types of permissions also require knowledge of the template structure.

  1. Under the Templates panel click on the template that is used in the section to which you would like to grant permissions.

  2. Click on the Placeholders tab.

  3. Right-click on the Placeholder (green cube) in which you would like to allow insertion of new content, then select Permissions.

  4. Check the green box next to the role(s) to which you would like to give permissions.

  5. This does not automatically give permission to all pages that use this template but allows the replacing of content only on pages that the Role has permissions to edit Page Properties.

  6. In the site tree, find the under which page you would like to grant permissions to create pages.

  7. Click on the Security tab.

  8. Check the Add Sub box in the row of the role name to which you would like to give permissions.

  9. Check the boxes on the second row of the role name (Sub Page Permissions). Which permissions you select depend on how much permission you need to give. The most common selections are: Properties, Template, Collections and Publishing. Properties is required to allow the replacing of content from a new template.

  10. Make sure that the role has global permission to create New Widgets. Click on the Admin tab.

  11. Click on Roles.

  12. Click on the Role to which you would like to give permission.

  13. Check the New Widgets box under the Widgets category.
